A Fortune 50 financial services company is seeking a highly motivated Agile Portfolio Content Specialist for our client in the McLean, VA area.

Overview:

  • We are seeking an Agile Portfolio Content Specialist who can bridge the gap between portfolio/product management practices and practical enablement content. This is not a pure technical writing role or a pure instructional design role. Instead, this individual will distill complex Lean Portfolio & Product Management (LPPM/IPPM) concepts into clear, repeatable, and audience-specific deliverables that drive adoption, clarity, and consistency across the organization.
  • This role will work side-by-side with PMO and Delivery partners, actively participating in pilot events such as discovery labs, PI planning, and demos to capture live learnings and translate them into reusable content. The Specialist will be a key owner of enablement documentation that supports leadership decision-making, team adoption, and audit readiness, with progress measured through tangible, high-quality deliverables.

Responsibilities:

  • Partner with portfolio, product, and delivery practitioners to capture practical application of LPPM/IPPM concepts, not just theory.
  • Translate complex operating models into a variety of content formats, including:
    • Executive briefings (concise, visual, strategic).
    • Contributor-level guides and quick-start kits (role-based, step-by-step).
    • Audit-ready documentation (traceability, decisions, evidence).
    • Training and enablement materials (facilitation guides, decks, visuals, glossaries).
  • Develop and maintain core deliverables, including:
    • Condensed executive overviews of portfolio playbooks/handbooks.
    • Role cards, onboarding checklists, and quick-start kits.
    • Governance and facilitation guides for discovery, planning, and audit readiness.
    • Audit evidence templates and traceability documentation (epics, lean business cases, workflows).
    • Terminology glossary and lexicon to ensure consistent language across pilots.
    • Handbook and playbook structure, format, and updates within SharePoint.
  • Create compelling PowerPoint decks, visuals, and diagrams to communicate governance models, processes, and workflows.
  • Consolidate input from multiple sources into coherent, standardized artifacts that can be leveraged across the enterprise.
  • Actively participate in pilot events (discovery labs, PI planning, demos) to capture live learnings and translate them into reusable content.
  • Work alongside PMO and delivery partners, reporting progress through tangible deliverables.

Qualifications:

  • 5–7+ years of experience in portfolio management, product management, or enterprise change/enablement documentation.
  • Strong grasp of Lean Portfolio & Product Management concepts (SAFe, Disciplined Agile, or Gartner-aligned preferred).
  • Demonstrated ability to interview SMEs, practitioners, and leaders to extract workflows, decisions, and rationale.
  • Proven track record of creating both narrative content and visual enablement materials (guides, decks, role maps, diagrams).
  • Proficiency in PowerPoint and visual communication tools for creating flow diagrams, process maps, and model illustrations.
  • Strong editing and synthesis skills; able to consolidate multiple inputs into one cohesive artifact.
  • Experience supporting portfolio/product transformations, agile adoption, or security-related programs highly preferred.
