A community services organization in New York City is looking to add a Behavioral Intervention Specialist (BIS) to join their growing team at one of their group homes in the Bronx and Manhattan.
About the Opportunity:
- Schedule: Monday to Friday
- Hours: 37.5 hours, Flexible
- Setting: Group Homes
- Patient Population: Adults (Ages 18+)
Responsibilities:
- Developing functional behavioral assessments and support plans using baseline data and ongoing proactive and reactive data
- Providing individual and group counseling
- Presenting psychotropic medications and restrictive behavior support plans to the Human Rights Committee
- Training multi-level staff in the implementation and monitoring of behavior support plans
- Providing referrals for psychiatric care, psychological evaluations and counseling services
- Acting as a liaison for mental health services/behavioral problems between and among IDT members, clinics, psychiatrists, hospitals day programs, families, and concerned others
- Participating in meetings related to ISP, Day Programs, Departmental, Psychotropic Medication Regimen Review,
- Supervision and Special Team meetings
- Maintaining current certification and becoming a certified trainer in SCIP or PROMOTE
- Perform other duties, as needed
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in a clinical and/or treatment field of psychology and documented training in assessment techniques and behavior support development, and 2+ years experience working directly with MRDD individuals.
- Ability to travel to and access multiple locations throughout the metropolitan area and work flexible hours and/or days, including possible overnight and weekend hours on rare occasions.
- Providing on-call behavioral service coverage via cell phone. Weekend/holiday coverage rotates throughout the behavioral service department.
