Contracts Manager

A Fortune 50 financial services company is seeking a highly motivated Contracts Manager for our client in the McLean, VA area.

Overview:

  • Oversees contract development and management activities, enforces organizational principles of integrity and compliance, ensures that contracts and proposals are properly entered into Vendoor and securely maintained, assures accuracy and appropriateness of contract text and attachments, and serves as the primary organizational contact during contract negotiations.

Responsibilities:

  • Support Procurement team’s objectives by negotiating, executing, and managing commercial contracts for the acquisition of technology-related products and services.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts in the area of technology across different product categories.
  • Lead negotiations on contract modifications with stakeholder input.
  • Assist internal stakeholders with contractual matters, requirements, risk management, and mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure the level of effort and attention to detail is commensurate with the complexity, value, and risk associated with acquisition.
  • Establish an acquisition strategy to include the type of contract, milestones, and business requirements.
  • Coordinate review of contracts or purchase agreements with Procurement Management and in conjunction with Office of General Counsel, as required.
  • Analyze vendor proposals and price quotes; perform cost or price analysis including review of cost breakdowns to determine reasonableness.
  • Develop negotiation objectives and lead negotiations related to contract pricing, terms, and conditions with potential contractors.
  • Meet with Business Units and vendors to review key contract terms, conditions, and requirements including deliverables and timelines prior to contract execution.
  • Interpret contract provisions and provide guidance to Business Units.
  • Close out contracts or issue termination notices and review settlement proposals.
  • Present alternatives and recommendations to solve unique and complex problems.
  • Ensure clear, concise, and effective communication with all parties.
  • Anticipate issues and identify proactive solutions.

Qualifications:

  • 5–10+ years of experience in IT contracting, especially in software licensing, IT infrastructure including mainframe, and ideally SaaS and cloud services.
  • Deep understanding of contract negotiation and management principles.
  • Strong knowledge of contract law, compliance requirements, and commercial best practices.
  • Demonstrated business acumen with the ability to influence internal stakeholders.
  • Quick comprehension of management intent with the ability to act with urgency and precision.
  • Proficiency in contract lifecycle management tools (e.g., Vendoor).
  • Excellent analytical skills for reviewing and interpreting complex contract terms and assessing risk.
  • Meticulous attention to detail with strong organizational abilities.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple contracts and deadlines independently or as part of a team.

Desired:

  • Experience with cloud services and artificial intelligence (AI) terms negotiations.
  • Juris Doctor.
