A community services organization in New York City is looking to add a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join their growing team at one of their group homes in Brooklyn and Queens.

Responsibilities:
The Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) will:
- Review medical records, verify MD’s orders and the Occupational therapist’s assessment prior to implementing OT treatment
- Communicate with supervisor regarding persons receiving services in the areas of cognitive/perceptual skills, sensor-motor, musculoskeletal status, CNS status, the use of assistive technology and adaptive equipment needs
- Integrate input from persons receiving services, family, and direct care staff in treatment
- Write specific, objective, and measurable documentation,
- Provide training to persons receiving services, families and/or direct care staff in specific supportive programs
- Participate and attend care plan/team meetings as needed for persons receiving OT services
- Implement a treatment plan, generated by the OT, including ROM, therapeutic exercise, cognitive/perceptual re-training, ADL, wheelchair mobility, pre-vocational skills, and application of physical agent modalities: hot packs, cold packs, and paraffin
- Perform other duties, as needed
Qualifications:
- Graduation from an accredited Occupational Therapy school
- NYS Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) license
Desired Skills:
- Experience with Wheelchair assessment
- Experience working with people with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities
