Data Analyst
A Fortune 50 financial services company is seeking a highly motivated Data Analyst for our client in the McLean, VA area.
Overview:
- S eeking a detail-oriented and highly analytical Data Analyst to evaluate, restructure, and maintain our organizational data management solutions.
- This role will work closely with stakeholders and engineers to ensure data is properly stored, access is appropriately restricted, and business requirements are met through robust analytics and process improvements.
- The ideal candidate will have strong technical skills, a deep understanding of data governance, and the ability to translate complex findings into actionable recommendations.
Responsibilities:
- Data Access & Governance
- Conduct comprehensive reviews of data storage and folder structures to accurately identify data owners.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to document data access requirements.
- Support engineers in restructuring folder hierarchies to ensure authorized access only.
- Implement and maintain procedures for granting access during new folder creation.
- Continuously monitor folder structures to maintain data integrity and compliance with IT policies.
- Data Analysis & Process Improvement
- Evaluate information, requirements, data quality, methodologies, and standards using advanced analytical techniques.
- Interpret analytical results, provide recommendations, and assess potential impacts.
- Partner with business units to enhance processing procedures and resolve operational issues.
- Analyze the impact of policy, procedural, or product changes on data and business functions.
- Identify opportunities for improved processes, data, or technology using advanced analysis methods.
- Reporting & Insights
- Compile, prepare, and review data sets for analyst and management use.
- Perform benchmarking and trend analyses to drive continuous improvement.
- Present findings, conclusions, and recommendations clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Generate and maintain accurate status reports on data collection and progress.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of proven experience in data analysis, business intelligence, and problem-solving.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Strong knowledge of IT policies, data governance, and access control procedures.
- Proficiency in Excel and experience with data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau).
- Knowledge of statistical analysis techniques.
- Advanced organizational, planning, and time management skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail while meeting deadlines.
- Strong communication skills across all organizational levels.
- Experience translating business requirements into effective technical solutions.
- Ability to work both independently and in cross-functional, multi-disciplinary teams.
