A leading financial services company in Plano, TX is currently seeking a Data Center Technician to join their team. This position involves overnight work to ensure the maintenance and operation of critical infrastructure in a high-availability environment.
About the Opportunity:
- Setting: 100% onsite in Plano, TX
- Shift: Night shift
- Schedule: Wednesday–Saturday
- Hours: 7pm-5:30am CT
- Physical Requirement: Must be able to lift and install equipment up to 50 lbs
Responsibilities:
The Data Center Technician will be responsible for:
- Installing and maintaining network and server hardware (rack & stack, components, cabling)
- Performing hardware diagnostics, break/fix, and component replacements
- Supporting data center builds, refreshes, and deployment logistics
- Conducting structured cabling (Cat6, fiber) and terminations
- Monitoring, troubleshooting, and escalating incidents as needed
- Using DCIM tools to maintain asset and rack documentation
- Operating KVM, PDUs, and out-of-band management systems
- Ensuring compliance with all safety and data center operational standards
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of data center or IT infrastructure experience, 5+ years preferred
- High school diploma or equivalent (associate degree or technical training preferred)
- Experience with routers, switches, and firewalls
- Knowledge of LAN/WAN topologies and structured cabling
- Familiarity with AC/DC power systems and electrical standards
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
- Excellent communication and documentation skills
- Ability to work independently and under pressure
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational habits
Desired Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or related field
- Cisco hardware experience or training
- Experience with DCIM tools (e.g., Nlyte), DSView, or similar platforms
- Familiarity with data center airflow and cooling concepts
- Proven ability to manage and prioritize tasks in a high-availability environment
