A health services organization in California is looking to add several new Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to their growing team. In this role, the DSP will be responsible for providing hands-on support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), helping them with daily living activities, personal care, and participation in community-based programs.
About the Opportunity:
- Start Date: ASAP
- Assignment Length: Ongoing
- Shift: Monday to Friday
- Hours: 8:30am to 3:30pm (on-duty meal break)
Responsibilities:
- Assist individuals with toileting, hygiene, eating, mobility, and other daily living activities
- Implement functional living skills based on each person’s Individual Service Plan (ISP)
- Engage participants in structured activities such as art, gardening, sensory play, and computer classes
- Support communication goals using assistive devices and techniques
- Assist with mobility programs and adaptive equipment
- Maintain accurate documentation of behaviors, activities, and care
- Participate in off-site outings and community integration
- Follow infection control, safety, and emergency procedures
- Collaborate with nursing and supervisory staff to ensure quality care
Qualifications:
- High school Diploma / GED
- First Aid certification
- Strong communication skills
- Comfortable with hygiene-related responsibilities
