A nonprofit organization in New York City is currently seeking a new Director of Social Services to lead social services operations at a family transitional residence program funded by the NYC Department of Homeless Services.
About the Opportunity:
- Schedule: Monday to Friday
- Hours: 9am to 5pm (one 1pm to 9pm shift per week)
Responsibilities:
- Oversee the Case Manager Supervisor who manages 7 Case Managers, as well as directly supervise 3 Housing Specialists, 3 Social Workers, and the Recreation Department staff
- Maintain daily communication with the Department of Homeless Services through reports, incident management, and compliance monitoring
- Conduct supervisory chart audits, weekly team meetings, case conferences, and manage critical files
- Crisis Response: Serve in on-call capacity for incidents (schedule varies - could be daily or weekly depending on facility needs
- Ensure contract requirements are met, track client progress, and maintain ACS case oversight
- Perform other duties, as needed
Qualifications:
- 2+ years of relevant work experience
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Previous experience in a Shelter and/or related setting
- Microsoft Office proficient
- Great interpersonal skills
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
- Strong attention to detail
- Highly organized
Desired Skills:
- Bachelor’s and/or Master’s Degree in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, Counseling / Guidance, and/or Art Therapy
- One of the following licensures: LCSW, LMSW, and/or LMHC
- Bilingual (English and Spanish)
- Previous supervisory experience in DHS Tier 2 facilities
- Experience working with diverse populations, including families, children, and individuals with complex needs
- Knowledge of Housing Subsidies, Entitlements, and NYC Housing landscape
