An established nonprofit health services organization in New York City is currently seeking an experienced professional to join their growing family shelter in Queens as their new Director of Social Services.
About the Opportunity:
- Schedule: Monday to Friday
- Hours: 35-hour work week (full-time; 1-hour mandatory lunch break)
- On-call duties (rare late-night emergencies given population)
- Parking available on-site
Responsibilities:
- Supervise team of 7, including: 4 Case Managers, 2 Clinical Coordinators, 1 Recreational Coordinator
- Review daily reports and census data through CARES system
- Provide direct case management when needed (maximum 15 cases)
- Participate in 24/7 on-call rotation with 2 others
- Ensure case managers complete documentation and meet housing goals
- Coordinate with external housing authorities and service providers
- Guide families through complex housing and benefits systems
- Complete facility passes for clients as needed
- Perform other duties, as needed
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience in Case Management, Housing, and/or Social Services
- Master's Degree
- Strong knowledge of Housing processes and Public Benefits
- Confidence and strong delegation skills essential
Desired Skills:
- Bilingual (English and Spanish)
- License preferred but not required (LMSW, LCSW, Mental Health Counseling, etc.)
- Experience in a Leadership and/or Supervisory role
