Part-Time Family Nurse Practitioner – Substance Use Treatment (Brooklyn, NY)
A nonprofit behavioral health organization is seeking a Part-Time Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) to support two residential treatment programs in Brooklyn. These programs provide care to adults in recovery and are staffed with a multidisciplinary team including psychiatric providers, counselors, and support personnel.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct medical assessments for new admissions
- Review medical histories and current medications
- Ensure clients are linked to ongoing care for chronic conditions
- Refill prescriptions as needed for non-complex, chronic conditions (e.g., hypertension, diabetes, HIV, hormone therapy)
- Screen for substance use disorders and prescribe Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT), including buprenorphine, naltrexone, and Vivitrol
- Manage acute, non-emergent medical concerns (e.g., rashes, mild asthma, etc.)
- Review discharge paperwork following ER visits or hospitalizations
- Administer injectable medications (e.g., Vivitrol, Cabenuva, Apretude, Yextugo)
- Phlebotomy skills preferred
Schedule:
- 2–3 weekdays per week(on-site)
- Flexible scheduling available
- 6–8 hour shifts preferred
Requirements:
- Active NYS license as a Family Nurse Practitioner
- Experience in substance use disorder treatment strongly preferred
- Competence in MAT prescribing and gender-affirming care
- Comfortable working in a residential setting with a diverse adult population
- Phlebotomy experience is a plus
