A healthcare organization in North Carolina is seeking a Gastroenterologist for locum tenens coverage. This role offers both inpatient and outpatient responsibilities with minimal on-site call.
About the Opportunity:
- Hybrid or Remote: Onsite
- Shift: Monday – Friday
- Schedule: Clinic 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM; Procedures start at 7:30 AM and end ~3:30 PM
- Call: Phone call ~10 days/month; rare on-site (1-2x/month)
- Setting: Inpatient & Outpatient
- Patient Volume: 12-15 per day
- EMR: Epic
- Credentialing:~90 days
Responsibilities:
- Perform upper & lower GI endoscopies (biopsy, foreign body removal, polyp excision, variceal injections, manometry)
- Perform diagnostic & therapeutic ERCP
- Conduct PEG placements and small bowel biopsies
- Provide inpatient consults and limited call coverage
Qualifications:
- Board Certified in Gastroenterology
- Active NC license (or eligible)
- MD/DO
- BLS certified
- Experience with ERCP, endoscopy, PEG, manometry
- Strong communication & teamwork skills
Desired Skills:
- EUS experience
- Liver biopsy & Sengstaken/Blakemore tube management
- Inpatient & outpatient GI experience
