A healthcare organization in Staten Island is currently seeking a qualified Medical Director to join their team at a Mariner's Harbor outpatient facility. This role involves providing medical assessments and support for clients with substance use disorders.
About the Opportunity:
- Hybrid or Remote: On-site required
- Shift: Daytime
- Schedule: Flexible
- Hours: 18 hours/week (2 ½ days)
- Setting: Methadone outpatient clinic
Responsibilities:
The Medical Director will be responsible for:
- Providing medical assessments, physical exams, and addressing urgent medical needs
- Treating conditions related to substance use, such as HIV and hep C
- Managing complications from street drugs, like xylazine-related wounds
- Supervising the clinic's medical staff and ensuring compliance with standards
- Overseeing quality improvement initiatives and infection control activities
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of postgraduate experience
- Graduate of an approved medical school
- Current NYS licensure, CPR/ACLS certification
- Board certified in Addiction Medicine, Internal Medicine, or Infectious Disease
- Experience in detoxification or substance use treatment settings
- Strong leadership and team-playing abilities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and EMR
- Ability to work under pressure and multitask
- Experience working with diverse backgrounds
Desired Skills:
- Experience in quality improvement and medical policy review
- Expertise in managing co-occurring medical conditions, such as HIV and hepatitis C
- Strong leadership and communication skills
