A New York City-based health services organization is currently seeking a board-eligible / certified Laborist to join their growing team in Brooklyn. In this role, the Laborist will be responsible for providing high-quality, evidence-based care to patients on Labor and Delivery with a focus on managing normal and high-risk pregnancies, responding to obstetric emergencies, and ensuring safe maternal and neonatal outcomes.
About the Opportunity:
- Schedule: 40-hour work week
- Hours: 8, 12, 16, or 24-hour shifts
- Setting: Inpatient
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct inpatient obstetric care, including management of labor, deliveries, and postpartum care
- Manage obstetric triage evaluations and admissions
- Perform vaginal deliveries, cesarean sections, and obstetric procedures as needed
- Respond to obstetric emergencies such as postpartum hemorrhage, shoulder dystocia, eclampsia, and maternal-fetal resuscitation
- Participate in quality improvement meetings, interdisciplinary case reviews, and performance improvement initiatives related to maternal and neonatal outcomes
- Maintain competency in obstetric simulation training for emergencies
- Complete accurate documentation of all patient encounters
- Perform other duties, as needed
Qualifications:
- M.D. or D.O.
- Unrestricted State of New York Medical license (current or eligible)
- Board Eligible or Certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology
- Current BLS certification
- DEA registration
