A nonprofit organization in New York City is currently seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join their growing Residential Program in Brooklyn. In this role, the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) will be responsible for floating between three residential sites in Brooklyn and providing essential healthcare services to youths who live on-site.
About the Opportunity:
- Start Date: ASAP
- Schedule: Monday to Friday (3 to 4 days onsite)
- Hours: 10am-6pm
- Setting: Residential Program
- Patient Population: Adolescents / Teens (Young Adults)
- Caseload: 8 to 10
Responsibilities:
- Advocate for and coordinate with other community providers to ensure comprehensive medical services for the youths
- Provide education on sensitive topics such as safe sex practices, pregnancy terminations, and gender transitions (LGBTQ-related issues)
- Perform routine medical tasks including venous blood draws, vaccine administration, IV therapy, specimen collections, EKGs, and wound care
- Maintain a nonjudgmental and empathetic approach, separating personal beliefs from professional responsibilities.
- Work closely with other healthcare professionals and staff to create a supportive and therapeutic environment for the youths
- Perform other duties, as needed
Qualifications:
- Graduate of an accredited Practical Nursing program
- NYS Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
- CPR certification
- Bilingual (English and Spanish)
- Child Welfare experience
