A rehabilitation services organization on Long Island is currently seeking Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN) to join one of their corrections facilities in Suffolk County.
About the Opportunity:
- Setting: Corrections Facility
- Shifts: Days, Evenings, Nights
- Schedule: 3-5 shifts per week
- Hours: 7am to 3pm or 3pm or 11pm or 11p-7a (Open to double 16 hour shifts)
- Location: Yaphank, New York or Riverhead, New York
Responsibilities:
- Administer Medications: Dispense prescribed medications to inmates, including oral, injectable, and topical drugs, following proper protocols and documentation.
- Conduct Health Assessments: Perform routine health screenings and physical assessments upon intake and during incarceration to identify medical or mental health needs.
- Respond to Medical Emergencies: Provide immediate care in emergencies such as injuries, overdoses, or acute medical conditions until advanced medical help arrives.
- Monitor Chronic Conditions: Assist in managing inmates with chronic illnesses like diabetes, hypertension, or asthma by conducting regular check-ups and ensuring treatment adherence.
- Maintain Medical Records: Accurately document patient interactions, treatments, and observations in accordance with HIPAA and facility guidelines.
Qualifications:
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
- NYS Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
- Solid assessment and documentation skills
- Great interpersonal skills
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
- Strong attention to detail
- Highly organized
