A health services agency in New York is currently seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join their Residential Treatment team in Queens, NY. In this role, the Resident Treatment LPN will be responsible for providing direct nursing care to agency clients in accordance with agency policies and procedures and current standards.

About the Opportunity

  • Start Date: ASAP
  • Schedule: Monday to Thursday (rotating weekends)
  • Hours: 12am to 8am
  • Patient Population: Ages 18+
  • Setting: Residential Treatment Center

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with patient care, including checking vital signs, blood pressure, pulse rate, breathing, temperature, weight, and discussing chief health concerns
  • Administer injections and perform tests
  • Take patient’s medical history, all pretreatment formalities and enters data in computer system
  • Record in patients’ record a detailed report of care given
  • Handle proper charting, documentation and maintenance of patients’ medical records
  • Check, clean, and dress wounds
  • Place phone calls to pharmacies to order prescriptions
  • Pull and prepare patient charts
  • Maintain the neatness of the work area; stock patient rooms with supplies
  • Perform other duties as requested

Qualifications:

  • 1+ year of Nursing experience
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Graduate of a formal Technical or Vocational LPN Program
  • NYS Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
  • BLS certification
  • Methadone experience
  • Proficiency in Phlebotomy and EKG
  • Knowledge of Medical terminology
  • Computer savvy and Microsoft Office proficient

Desired Skills:

  • 2+ years of Nursing experience
  • Associate’s and/or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing
  • Bilingual
  • Knowledge of multi-disciplinary team experience
  • Knowledge of techniques for identifying and preventing potentially violent behavior, including Crisis Management techniques
