A nonprofit organization in Queens, NY is currently seeking a professional to provide mental health consultation to Head Start staff, children, and families. This role involves classroom and home visit consultations, staff training, child assessments, and parent training.
About the Opportunity:
- Schedule: Monday to Friday
- Hours: 8am to 4pm
Responsibilities:
- Monthly classroom visits to provide guidance on social-emotional development and mental health, and offer feedback and activity modeling for staff
- Quarterly training sessions on mental health issues for staff
- Participation in staff meetings and mental health program development
- Annual parent training sessions
- Assessments and consultations for individual children and families
- Conducting standardized assessments and referrals
- Home visits to support mental health needs
- Supervision meetings and compliance with reporting requirements
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in Mental Health settings
- Master’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or related field
- First Aid and CPR certification
- Solid understanding of Early Childhood Mental Health
- Experience with clinical documentation and assessments
- Ability to build relationships, conduct training, and manage time effectively
- Ability to manage physically active children
- Valid Driver’s License and proof of insurance
