About the Opportunity
A hospital in NYC is seeking a dedicated and skilled Neurology Physician Assistant to join their team for night and weekend coverage. The position involves 12.5-hour shifts with a manageable patient load of 3–5 patients per PA.
Responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day management of patients with acute neurologic conditions including ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke, traumatic brain injury, subarachnoid hemorrhage, brain tumors, spinal cord injuries, and post-operative neurosurgical cases.
- Serve as a primary provider in the neuroscience intensive care unit alongside neurointensivists.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including neurosurgery, stroke, epilepsy, palliative care, pulmonary critical care, and other subspecialties.
- Perform clinical procedures such as blood draws, arterial line placement, and central line placement.
- Assist in the management of external ventricular drains and intracranial pressure monitors.
- Coordinate patient disposition including transfers, discharges to rehab/nursing facilities, or discharge home.
- Communicate with family members and participate in family meetings.
Qualifications
- Board Certified, Licensed Physician Assistant with experience in neurology or critical care settings.
- ACLS and BLS certifications required.
