Introduction:
A healthcare provider in New Brunswick, NJ is currently seeking a locum Advanced Practice Provider (APP) for nighttime inpatient coverage in the Stroke and General Neurology service line.
About the Opportunity:
- Hybrid or Remote: Onsite
- Shift: Nighttime
- Schedule: Flexible Schedule
- Hours: 6:00 PM – 7:30 AM
- Setting: Inpatient coverage
Responsibilities:
The Advanced Practice Provider will be responsible for:
- Providing inpatient neurology coverage, including responding to stroke codes
- Conducting NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) and other neurological assessments
- Managing general neurology patients (10–15 per night, including consults)
- Collaborating with a neurology resident and two attendings available by phone
- Utilizing Epic EMR for documentation and care coordination
Qualifications:
- Active NP or PA license in New Jersey
- Board Certified in specialty to maintain licensure
- Prior experience with inpatient neurology and stroke care preferred
- Comfortable working independently overnight with remote attending backup
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to work well in a team
- Strong critical thinking skills
Desired Skills:
- 3+ years of experience in a similar role
- Advanced degree in healthcare or related field
- Experience with Epic EMR
- Proficient in conducting NIH Stroke Scale assessments
- Excellent problem-solving abilities
