A reputable organization in Staten Island, NY is currently seeking a new Occupational Therapist to join their dedicated team.

About the Opportunity:

  • Schedule: Monday to Friday, flexible start times
  • Hours: 7am to 3pm or 8am to 4pm or 9am to 5pm
  • Patient Population: Adults & Geriatrics
  • EMR: PrecisionCare

Responsibilities:

  • Review MD’s referral and persons receiving services medical record prior to determining OT treatment required
  • Evaluate and assess persons needs and level of functioning in the areas of: cognitive/perceptual, sensorimotor, gross & fine motor skills, musculoskeletal status, CNS status, transfers, adaptive equipment (e.g., ADL devices) and assistive technology
  • Confer with Physician and other Healthcare Practitioners to obtain additional information on persons receiving services
  • Integrate input from persons receiving services family, and direct care staff in treatment assessment and recommendations
  • Devise treatment plans based on the assessment
  • Write specific, objective, and measurable documentation
  • Provide training to people receiving services, families and/or direct care staff
  • Communicate effectively with discharge planning from rehabilitative programs
  • Perform all other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience in Occupational Therapy.
  • Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy school
  • NYS Occupational Therapist (OT) license or eligible for NYS licensure to practice Occupational Therapy
  • Knowledge in Occupational Therapy evaluations and treatment
  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills
  • Adaptability to various therapeutic situations
  • Problem-solving and critical-thinking skills

Desired Skills:

  • Advanced certifications in Occupational Therapy specialization areas
  • Experience working with individuals with Developmental Disabilities
  • Familiarity with Adaptive Equipment and Assistive Technology
  • Experience with Wheelchair Assessment
  • Experience with Electronic Medical Records, such as PrecisionCare
