A property management organization in New York City is looking to fill an immediate, Part-time need with the addition of a new Paralegal to their team. In this role, the Paralegal will primarily be responsible for assisting the Attorneys in the Legal Department with respect to individual homebuyer transaction closings.
About the Opportunity:
- Start Date: ASAP
- Assignment Length: 6 months
- Schedule: Tuesday to Thursday
- Hours: 2 0 per week (1-hour lunch unpaid)
Responsibilities:
- Assisting in the review of loan documents, if any, prepared by a senior purchase money mortgage lender for individual eligible homebuyer closings
- Assisting in the review of all relevant documents provided by individual eligible homebuyers
- Assisting in the review of any additional documentation to address any legal issues that may arise in connection with individual eligible homebuyer closings.
- Performing legal research for Attorneys
- Assisting the Attorneys in providing routine legal services related to loan management and mortgage enforcement efforts for housing projects
- Performing other duties, as needed
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience in a Legal setting
- High School Diploma / GED
- Licensed as a NYS Notary Public
- Working knowledge of ACRIS, Lexis Advance, Accurint, Westlaw, and Image Silo
- Computer savvy, including proficiency with Microsoft Office
- Solid problem-solving and time management skills
- Great interpersonal skills
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
- Strong attention to detail
- Highly organized
Desired Skills:
- Associate’s and/or Bachelor’s Degree
- Paralegal certification
- Experience with Real Estate Transactions, including Residential or Commercial Loan Closings, Foreclosures, preparation of UCC filings and various Real Estate documents
