A recognized services organization in Washington, D.C. is actively seeking a new Principal Datadog Engineer / Sr. Datadog Engineer & Architect to join their staff.
Responsibilities:
- Design and scale observability solutions with Datadog across apps, infrastructure, cloud, and security
- Build dashboards, monitors, and alerting frameworks tailored to business needs
- Deploy and integrate Datadog agents, APIs, and automation across multi-cloud environments
- Optimize Datadog usage and cost management while ensuring meaningful, actionable alerts
- Collaborate with DevOps, SRE, Cloud, and Security teams to embed observability in daily operations
- Mentor teammates and share best practices through training, reviews, and documentation
- Shape long-term observability strategy, influence enterprise policies, and represent technical expertise across and outside the organization
- Perform other duties, as needed
Qualifications:
- 8+ years (Senior) / 10+ years (Principal) of engineering experience (degree or equivalent).
- Datadog Fundamentals or APM/Distributed Tracing certification
- Hands-on experience with Datadog monitoring, APM, tracing, and automation
- Strong scripting (Python, Bash, PowerShell, YAML) and CI/CD integration skills
- Cloud DevOps/Automation background with Git or similar version control
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to mentor, communicate, and lead
