A leading organization in Washington, D.C., is looking to hire an experienced Product Owner for a Remote, contract role. As a Product Owner, you’ll collaborate across technical and business teams to drive product strategy, streamline backlogs, and deliver top-tier functionality that supports organizational growth and innovation. This is an exciting opportunity for a strategic and innovative thinker who thrives in Agile environments and can transform business goals into actionable roadmaps.

About the Opportunity:

  • Start Date: ASAP
  • Assignment Length: Contract
  • Setting: Remote (Must be local to Washington, DC for occasional onsite meetings)

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and communicate a clear product vision aligned with company goals
  • Translate business needs into detailed product backlogs and user stories
  • Lead product-release plans and manage expectations around delivery timelines
  • Partner closely with stakeholders and development teams to ensure alignment and clarity
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives
  • Continuously evaluate and refine product priorities based on evolving needs and feedback
  • Analyze market and competitor trends to drive strategy and innovation
  • Maintain clear product documentation and communicate effectively with all stakeholders

Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of experience supporting large-scale programs
  • 5+ years of experience working in Agile environments
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Agile certifications such as CSM, ACSM, CSP-SM
  • Deep knowledge of Agile methodology, IT systems lifecycle, and architectural frameworks
  • Strong problem-solving, program management, and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Ability to balance short- and long-term priorities while delivering business value

Desired Skills:

  • Advanced Agile certifications (e.g., CSPO, CSP-PO, CAL1)
  • Experience supporting Federal Government clients (DHS, FDA, NIH, HHS)
  • Familiarity with CMMI level frameworks
  • Proficiency with tools such as Atlassian suite, Azure, JAMF, Okta
  • Experience with Microsoft tools like Power Platform, M365/MS Teams, and AVD
