A New York based non-profit is seeking a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, to provide medical and psychiatric evaluation and treatment as part of a clinic based, multidisciplinary team and in a clinic environment, focused on individuals in Suffolk County with mental health conditions.

Qualifications:

  • Current NYS licensure as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner through the NYS Education Department
  • Valid and clean NYS Driver’s License
  • Fingerprinting and criminal background check
  • Approval from NYS Office of Mental Health

Job Function:

Provide psychiatric and medical assessment and treatment as part of a multidisciplinary treatment team within the Clinical Services Department, serving individuals with severe and persistent mental illness.


Core Responsibilities

Clinical Duties

  • Conduct comprehensive psychiatric and medical assessments and provide ongoing treatment
  • Develop, maintain, and supervise medication administration procedures and psychiatric treatment protocols
  • Provide back-up medical coverage during staff absences, including administration of IM injections when needed
  • Ensure timely and accurate clinical documentation, including:
    • Progress notes for all sessions, phone calls, and collateral contacts
    • Initial and updated psychiatric assessments

Supervision & Training

  • Supervise RNs and LPNs on medication administration practices
  • Provide training and professional development to staff on psychiatric medications and treatments
