A nonprofit services organization in New York City is actively seeking a new School Psychotherapist to join their growing team. In this role, the School Psychotherapist will be responsible for delivering individual, family, and group psychotherapy to youth (ages 3–18), with some clients up to age 23 if in foster care.

About the Opportunity:

  • Assignment Length: Ongoing
  • Schedule: Monday to Friday
  • Hours: 8am to 4pm (school site) and 11am to 7pm (summer clinic)
  • Setting: School & Mental Health Clinic
  • Patient Population: Adolescents & Children

Responsibilities:

  • Provide on-site support for crisis intervention and behavioral issues during the school day
  • Identify and assess at-risk students and provide trauma screenings, safety planning, and psychoeducation
  • Maintain a consistent caseload and ensure all clients receive weekly therapy sessions
  • Complete mental health assessments, diagnoses, intakes, and treatment plans
  • Participate in high-risk case conferences, weekly team supervision, and ongoing treatment planning
  • Assist in discharge planning and referrals for continuity of care
  • Facilitate classroom-based interventions and lead psychoeducation sessions for students, parents, and faculty
  • Coordinate services and referrals with outside agencies as needed
  • Perform other duties, as needed

Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in Social Work
  • NYS Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW)
  • Experience with Trauma-informed Care and Evidence-based models

Desired Skills:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in Child Welfare, Foster Care, or Mental Health
  • Bilingual (English and Spanish)
  • Experience working with children impacted by poverty, homelessness, and DV
  • Familiarity with EHRs and Citrix access for documentation
  • Comfort delivering psychoeducation and staff support within schools
