A recognized consumer products company in New York City is actively seeking a new Purchasing Associate / Specialist to join their growing team. In this role, the Purchasing Associate / Specialist will be responsible for working with the Purchasing Department on a variety of procurement and administrative tasks, such as replenishment order placement and follow-up of all active orders.
Responsibilities:
- Purchase order management, including coordinating purchasing recognitions, placing purchase orders, following up on tracking orders, invoices, and vendor confirmations
- Coordinating internal purchasing requests; obtaining details and specifications of the items under consideration for purchase
- Placing replenishment orders and order routing as assigned
- Maintaining accurate correspondence and records of vendor communications, including current vendor information regarding cost, availability, reorders, and general product information
- Collaborating with other team members on incoming shipments
- Arranging shipments for both domestic and international orders that require special handling
- General administrative duties and support, including special projects on an “as needed” basis for the Purchasing team
Qualifications:
- 1+ year of relevant work experience
- High School Diploma / GED
- Microsoft Office proficiency (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
- Strong mathematical skills
- Solid problem solving and time management skills
- Great interpersonal skills
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
- Strong attention to detail
- Highly organized
Desired Skills:
- Associate’s and/or Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management
- Prior experience with Procurement Planning, Buying, and/or related Operations
- Expertise in SAP purchasing modules
- Experience with UPS.com and tracking shipments
- Booking freight shipments or general knowledge of LTL shipments
