A nonprofit organization on Long Island is seeking a new CASAC-T to join their growing team in Suffolk County as their new Recovery Support Specialist. In this role, the Recovery Support Specialist will be responsible for serving as a mentor and motivator by helping clients stay accountable, build healthy routines, and develop meaningful life skills.
About the Opportunity:
- Assignment Length: Ongoing
- Shift: Days or Evenings or Nights
- Schedule: Full-time
- Hours: 8am to 4pm (Days) or 2pm to 10pm (Evenings) or 11pm to 7am (Nights)
Responsibilities:
- Guide residents through daily schedules and therapeutic routines
- Offer mentorship around job duties, schoolwork, and interpersonal development
- Model positive communication and recovery-focused behavior
- Track attendance and document resident behavior
- Provide updates to counselors and the clinical team
- Participate in shift handoffs and team meetings to maintain continuity of care
- Support with resident transportation to appointments, as needed
- Help facilitate evening activities or emergency drills when assigned
- Collaborate with staff to ensure a safe, respectful, and supportive environment
- Perform other duties, as needed
Qualifications:
- 2+ years of experience in a Substance Use Disorder and/or Residential Behavioral Health role/setting
- High School Diploma / GED
- Active CASAC-T
- Strong communication and rapport-building skills
- Ability to model boundaries, structure, and recovery-oriented behaviors
- Genuine passion for client support, empowerment, and mentorship
