A health services network in New York City is actively seeking a new Registered Dietician to join their growing team in the Bronx. In this role, the Registered Dietician will be responsible for providing education and guidance with meal planning, care coordination, nutrition evaluation and recommendation.
About the Opportunity:
- Start Date: ASAP
- Assignment Length: 13-week contract
- Schedule: Monday to Friday (some weekend coverage)
- Hours: 8:30am to 5pm
- Setting: Acute Care Hospital

Responsibilities:
- Screen and assess patients in an accurate and timely manner based on levels of care
- Determine patients' nutritional needs and status and provides follow-up care
- Interview patients and/or their families to obtain history of food habits and preferences
- Monitor patients for and provide education on food/drug interactions
- Record food and drug interactions in the education section
- Interpret pertinent laboratory physical and social data in the medical record
- Provide nutrition education and records patient's diet and diet instructions and the patient's understanding of the diet in the education section
- Consult with the Physicians regarding appropriate diet modification
- Modifies patient menus as needed
- Perform other duties, as needed
Qualifications:
- 1+ year of experience in an Acute / Inpatient setting
- Graduate from an accredited college/university with a degree in Dietetics and/or Foods & Nutrition
- Registration by the Commissions on Dietetic Registration (CDR) as a Registered Dietitian
- NYS certification issued by the NYS Education Department (NYSED) as a Dietitian-Nutritionist
Desired Skills:
- Master’s Degree
- BLS certification
- Working knowledge of Epic EMRs
