A residential school caring for special needs children is seeking a Registered Nurse to join their team.
About the Opportunity
- Schedule: Monday to Thursday
- Hours: 2:30pm to 12:30am (10 hour days)
- Setting: School
Responsibilities:
- Assess and treat any sick or injured student or staff
- Administer and assess students that receive scheduled or as needed medications
- Provide information and teaching for students and staff needed for activities of daily living skills that pertain to medical/health center
- Attend after school/evening field trips with the staff and students in case a medical emergency arises
- Maintain the AEDs throughout the campus. Prepare medication boxes that go home with students who have regular medications or when refills are needed
- Notify parents/guardians of student status changes and necessary needs of the student
- Admit and treat sick students and arrange transportation home, whether it be by parent/guardian or school district
- Audit and monitor all medications (OTC & personal)
- Document all events reported on the proper forms and charts
- Guide parents, students and teachers in procedures for preventing and correcting defects and diseases
- Instruct school personnel in procedures to follow in case of accident or illness
- Perform other duties, as needed
Qualifications:
- Active New York State Registered Nurse license
- BLS/CPR certified
- Experience working with Pediatrics and Special Needs children
- Skilled in Triage, Tracheostomy & Gastric Tube, Asthma Care / Asthmatics, and Medication Administration
- Computer skills
