A health services agency in New York City is currently seeking a licensed Registered Nurse (RN) to join their team in Queens. In this role, the Registered Nurse will be responsible for providing direct nursing care to agency clients in accordance with agency policies and procedures and current standards.

About the Opportunity

  • Start Date: ASAP
  • Setting: Outpatient
  • Hours: 35 hours (Monday to Friday)
  • Patient Population: Adults (16+)

Responsibilities:

  • Assess health status of clients assigned to daily work schedule and develops a plan of care
  • Perform and document nursing intake and medical history
  • Triage sick call list as assigned and make referrals for treatment to appropriate level of medical practitioner
  • Complete follow-up assessment of clients who are treated for chronic and/or acute illnesses to monitor effectiveness of prescribed treatments
  • Monitor vital signs and performs physical examination, as indicated to assess health status of clients
  • Develop a plan of care for nursing care in accordance with standards of practice
  • Change dressings and wounds and provide other treatments that are prescribed by a Physician
  • Administer and document medications prescribed to agency clients
  • Maintain inventories of stock items and order supplies as indicated
  • Perform other duties, as requested

Qualifications:

  • 2+ year of Nursing experience
  • 1 year experience working with individual with an active substance abuse diagnosis and severe mental health diagnosis.
  • Bachelors Degree in Nursing
  • NYS Registered Nurse (RN) license
  • Methadone experience
  • Experience working with clients with Substance Use Disorder (SUD) and/or Serious Mental Illness (SMI)
  • Knowledge of techniques for identifying and preventing potentially violent behavior, including Crisis Management techniques
  • BLS certification
  • Computer savvy
  • Knowledge of Medical terminology

Desired Skills:

  • 3+ year of Nursing experience
  • Knowledge of multi-disciplinary team experience
