A dynamic company in Wilmington, MA is currently seeking a Senior Azure Data Engineer/Architect for a contract or contract-to-hire position. This role involves leading the development and implementation of scalable, cloud-native data platforms using Azure Data Services and Microsoft Fabric.
About the Opportunity:
- Hybrid or Remote: Hybrid (Tuesdays and Wednesdays in office)

Responsibilities:
- Architecting and implementing end-to-end data solutions using Azure services, including Azure Data Fabric, Azure Data Lake Storage, Azure SQL Database, and Azure Data Factory
- Managing cloud data migration and modernization efforts
- Utilizing AI tools such as Cursor, Mermaid, and CoPilot.
- Defining and enforcing data architecture standards, governance policies, and security protocols
- Mentoring the Data Engineers and Developers and promoting best practices
Qualifications:
- 8+ years of experience in data architecture, with at least 4 years focused on Azure cloud data services
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field
- Relevant Azure certifications (e.g., Azure Data Engineer Associate, Azure Solutions Architect Expert)
- Advanced proficiency in T-SQL, query tuning, and database design
- Strong experience with ETL tools (SSIS, Azure Data Factory)
- Familiarity with Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Ability to work in fast-paced, agile environments
Desired Skills:
- 10+ years of experience in delivering Data Warehouse solutions
- Master's Degree
- Experience with Azure Databricks, Spark, or other big data processing tools
- Familiarity with data visualization platforms such as Power BI or Tableau
- Exposure to data governance, data quality, and master data management concepts
- Knowledge of scripting languages such as PowerShell or Python
