Senior Business Analyst – Excel/VBA Automation
A top Fortune 50 financial institution is seeking an experienced Senior Business Analyst to support and enhance automated Excel-based tools used in financial operations.
About the Opportunity:
The Senior Business Analyst will play a critical role in maintaining, troubleshooting, and enhancing complex Excel workbooks built with VBA. This position requires deep technical knowledge in Excel automation and strong business acumen in financial account reconciliation. The ideal candidate will be capable of reverse engineering legacy tools, gathering business requirements, and preparing documentation to support future platform migration initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Reverse engineer complex, automated Excel workbooks to document data, workflows, and business logic
- Partner with business stakeholders to gather requirements and support ongoing enhancements
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to automated Excel tools, identifying root cause and impact
- Provide ongoing support and modifications to existing Excel workbooks as needed
- Analyze business processes and recommend improvements for efficiency and scalability
- Lead and participate in cross-functional teams to support high-impact initiatives
- Prepare detailed documentation to support transformation and system integration efforts
Required Qualifications:
- 10+ years of experience as a Business Analyst or in a similar technical/functional role
- Expert-level proficiency in VBA (Visual Basic for Applications), specifically within Excel
- Advanced understanding of financial account reconciliation processes
- Strong analytical skills with proven ability to gather and document complex business requirements
- Demonstrated experience in root cause analysis and problem resolution for automated workflows
- Experience leading collaborative teams and business/technical partnerships
- Track record of managing large-scale initiatives with business impact
- Excellent organizational, time management, and multitasking skills
- Strong knowledge of business process modeling and system integration concepts
