Tandym is seeking a highly motivated Senior Network Security Engineer to provide support remotely for a top Financial Services client.
This is a long-term contract, 100% REMOTE.
Responsibilities:
- Manage and maintain Palo Alto firewall infrastructure, including patching, upgrades, and configuration.
- Convert traditional Layer 4 firewall rules to Layer 7 using App-ID and User-ID.
- Create and manage custom App-ID definitions as needed for unique applications.
- Ensure performance, availability, and compliance of firewall and security solutions.
- Collaborate with internal teams to define and implement secure network solutions.
- Support monitoring and response efforts to maintain a strong security posture.
- (Preferred) Manage and support Checkpoint firewalls in IaaS/cloud environments.
- (Preferred) Deploy Palo Alto firewalls in cloud/IaaS architectures.
- (Preferred) Leverage Python scripts to automate network/security operations.
Qualifications:
- 10+ years of overall network engineering experience, with a strong foundation in designing, implementing, and supporting secure enterprise network infrastructures.
- 5+ years of hands-on experience with Palo Alto firewall platforms.
- Strong understanding of App-ID, User-ID, and custom App-ID creation.
- Experience performing firewall upgrades, patching, and advanced rule configuration.
- Proficient in core networking concepts, protocols, and secure design principles.
- Familiarity with network infrastructure devices such as routers, switches, and VPNs.
- Experience managing Checkpoint firewalls in cloud environments is a plus.
- Background deploying Palo Alto solutions in IaaS-based infrastructures is a plus.
- Python scripting experience for automating firewall management tasks is a plus.
