A supportive housing program in New York City is seeking a Service Coordinator to join their team. In this role, the Service Coordinator will provide housing support and case management to participants living in scattered-site housing throughout the community.
About the Opportunity:
- Start Date: ASAP
- Assignment Length: Temp with potential to perm
- Schedule: Monday to Friday
- Hours: 9am to 5pm
Responsibilities:
- Act as a liaison between participants, building superintendents, and property managers to ensure timely apartment repairs
- Maintain detailed logs of apartment and building conditions
- Report non-compliance or urgent housing issues to the Supportive Housing Director
- Provide case management and on-site crisis intervention
- Complete service plans and document monthly progress in participant charts
- Conduct home visits to assess compliance and identify service needs
- Facilitate monthly tenant meetings and educate on home safety, budgeting, and landlord relations
- Escort participants to social service agencies as needed
- Report suspected child abuse or neglect
- Complete annual rent calculation and apartment inspection forms
- Update monthly program data and ensure lease documents are current and filed
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience in a Behavioral and Mental Health setting
- Associate’s Degree or equivalent in a related field
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to use sound judgment and maintain discretion with sensitive issues
- Culturally competent and committed to diversity
- Comfortable multitasking in a fast-paced environment
Desired Skills:
- Bilingual
- Experience in Supportive Housing and/or Social Services
- Familiarity with Housing programs and Compliance procedures
