A New York City health services organization is currently seeking a Stress Test/EKG Lab Technician to join one of their facilities in Brooklyn.
About the Opportunity:
- Schedule: Monday to Friday (and every other Sunday)
- Hours: 8am to 4:30pm (7am to 3pm on Sundays)
- Department: Cardiology
Responsibilities:
- Assist in the operation and maintenance of EKG and stress testing equipment used
- Maintain and clean equipment, checking that the equipment is working properly
- Perform routine EKGs on assigned nursing units and respond to stat requests, as necessary
- Assure EKG tracings are appropriately labeled and check the quality of tracing before submitting for interpretation and placing EKG in medical record
- Observe the data on monitoring equipment and relays parameters to the appropriate personnel
- Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environmental, and infection control standards
- Perform other duties, as needed
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma
- EKG certification and training
- CPR/BLS certification
- Knowledgeable regarding various types of stress testing (exercise, pharmacological, nuclear) and protocols of each
- Knowledgeable regarding halting stress testing equipment in most expedient manner while providing safe care in those situations calling for prompt action
- Solid assessment, clinical, and documentation skills
- Patient oriented
- Great interpersonal skills
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
- Strong attention to detail
- Highly organized
