A respected healthcare facility in New Jersey is currently seeking a Physician Assistant for an inpatient urology locum tenens assignment. This is a maternity leave coverage role offering a flexible schedule and the chance to work alongside a collaborative urology team.
About the Opportunity:
- Hybrid or Remote: On-site only
- Shift: Monday–Friday 7:00 AM–5:00 PM; Weekends 7:00 AM–12:00 PM
- Schedule: Flexible; call is required on weekends
- Setting: Inpatient urology, no trauma coverage
- Patient Load: 15–29 patients per day
- Team: 8 physicians and 1–2 other APPs;
- Licensure: NJ license required or IMLC eligible
- CDS and DEA: Up-to-date certifications required
Responsibilities:
The Physician Assistant will be responsible for:
- Managing complex Foley catheter placement and care
- Performing Continuous Bladder Irrigation (CBI)
- Conducting Suprapubic Tube (SPT) exchanges
- Collaborating with urology attending physicians and APPs
- Delivering inpatient care without dedicated support staff
Qualifications:
- Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in inpatient urology or surgical subspecialties
- Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program
- Active or eligible New Jersey PA license or IMLC
- Valid and current CDS and DEA
- Proficiency in complex urologic procedures
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
- Strong clinical judgment and communication skills
- Professional, reliable, and collaborative team player
Desired Skills:
- 3+ years of inpatient experience preferred
- Experience in urology, general surgery, or similar specialty
- Prior locum tenens experience a plus
- Comfort in managing a patient panel of 15–29 daily
- Flexible and adaptable work style
- Strong problem-solving and organizational abilities
